HOW TO WALK IN RESURRECTION POWER EVERY DAY OF YOUR LIFE

by Diana Scheich

Jesus said in John 11:25:  “I am the resurrection and the life.He who believes in Me; though he may die, he shall live.”

Introduction:  As a Spirit-baptized believer, you have an “edge” – a Source of Power the world cannot possess.  It can’t be bought.  It is a gift from God.  (Story of Simon of Samaria, a sorcerer trying to buy the gift - Acts 8:9-24)

WHAT DOES “RESURRECTION POWER” MEAN IN TODAY’S LANGUAGE?

1.      “Resurrection Power” is the POWER that rose Jesus Christ from the dead.

2.      John the Baptist prophesied about it during his ministry:  “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I,   whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire…”(Matt. 3:11)

3.      Jesus prophesied about HOLY SPIRIT POWER as He approached his death:

(Luke 24:49) “I send the Promise of My Father upon you, but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with POWER (dunamis) on high.”

And again in Acts 1:9 before He ascended into Heaven, “But you shall receive POWER (dunamis)  when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

The Greek word for POWER  in this context is “dunamis”.  (STRONGS - Dunamis means energy, power, might, great force, great ability, strength.  Compare with dynamic and dynamite).

4.      Paul proclaimed that the “resurrection power” that rose Christ from the dead  was “dunamis” when he said in Phil. 3:10:

“that I may know Him and the
power (dunamis)
of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death…”

WHY IS RESURRECTION POWER AND THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IMPORTANT?

  1. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit gives you boldness.

(Acts 4:31)  “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”

(Acts 4:13)  “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus”.

(Hebrews 10:19)  “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus…”

(Pro. 29:2)  “The righteous are BOLD as a lion.”

  1. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit enables the Holy Spirit to pray through you  in an ecstatic utterance also called “tongues.”  He prays the perfect will of the Father concerning your life and situations.

(Romans 8:26)  “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered”.

  1. Praying in the Holy Spirit gives us strength.

(Jude 20)  “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit…”

HOW CAN YOU RECEIVE THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT?

  1. After salvation, pray for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues (which is evidence of being baptized in the Holy Spirit).

(Acts 2:4)  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

  1. Believers in the N. T. received the Holy Spirit when the disciples laid hands on them and prayed for them to receive.

(Acts 19:6) And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.

HOW CAN YOU CONTINUALLY WALK IN THE RESURRECTION POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT?

  1. Stay in close communion with the Lord by prayer, Bible reading, worshipping and fellowshipping with other believers.  Jesus called this “abiding in the vine.”  (John 15)

HOW CAN YOU SHARE THE RESURRECTION POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WITH OTHERS?

  1. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit gives us POWER to be WITNESSES.”  (Acts 1:8)
  1. What is a “witness?”  A witness tells what he has seen and heard.

(STRONGS – One who testifies to the truth he has experienced, a WITNESS is one who has knowledge of a fact and can give information concerning it.)

(John 1:32)  And John bore witness, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him

     3.   Pray for direction of the Holy Spirit.

4. Learn to witness and practice it!

CONCLUSION  (Galatians 5:25)  “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
